The 37-metre sloop S/Y “A SULANA” is the realization of a dream brought to life at the hands of Holland Jachtbouw in conjunction with British Naval Architect Bill Dixon.
Attention to the small details lay at the heart of this bespoke custom build, whereby no aspect of the design has been overlooked to ensure that she delivers from an operational standpoint for the most demanding of owners and crew.
Consistently maintained and upgraded, S/Y “A SULANA” is an exceptional yacht delivering fantastic and elegant sailing performance, coupled with a well thought out and considered layout, both on and below deck.
Sailing performance is no accident, it is the result of significant amounts of design time and tank testing to prove the concept and above the water a carefully thought through rig and sail inventory. The hull design has been optimized to ensure that the keel and ballast bulb provide the maximum lift, stability and efficiency in accordance with the design brief.
Weight and weight distribution are key factors in effective yacht design, therefore Alustar was the material of choice for the hull construction whilst the placement and location of the yacht systems were considered carefully.
The helm positions set to port and starboard ensures that there excellent visibility forward, this is coupled with sail controls in easy reach at each console, essential for controlled sail handling of the captive main sheet and furlers. The headsail winches are also placed close to the helm so that calls to be made on the trim can be communicated easily, with the minimum of disturbance to the guests who maybe relaxing in the center cockpit.
“A SULANA” is equipped with a powerful carbon rig, furling main and semi-recessed headstay furlers which provide excellent sail area/displacement ratio. She carries a non-overlap Blade headsail for power and ease of handling, while the Genoa Reacher is fitted to the outer headstay to make the most of light airs.
