In guest mode the deckhand drives tenders, sets up and operates jet skis, paddleboards, seabobs and inflatables, keeps a navigational lookout, and supports the interior team with luggage, provisioning and beach setups.
Mandatory certifications are the STCW Basic Safety Training (five modules: PST, FPFF, EFA, PSSR, PSA), a valid ENG1 seafarer medical, and the STCW Proficiency in Security Awareness. The RYA Powerboat Level 2 is the de facto industry standard for tender driving, with the RYA Personal Watercraft (Jet Ski) certificate typically added before a first contract.
